Lobelia is also known as Indian tobacco. They are profuse summer bloomers, very popular as border plants, container plants, hanging baskets and windowsills. Medicinally they have been used to treat Asthma, Bronchitis and coughs.
Position: Full Sun to partial shade. They like rich, wet soil almost like a natural wetland.
Spacing: 15 - 25cm
Disease and Pests:
Insect and disease is not common in Lobelia. Apply fungicide and Insecticide only if needed.
Lobelias need little attention. Keep soil moist and feed once a month with a general fertilizer like 2.3.2. Lobelias prefer cooler weather but do not take frost.
