Here is an old fashioned annual that deserves more recognition than it gets.  The large clusters are very showy on compact plants.  Great in containers and window boxes. 

Position - Full sun in rich loose soil that drains well. 

Spacing  - 20cm

Disease and pests -

Nematodes can be a problem in the soil.  Treat with an insecticide specific to nematode.  If disease problems occur treat early with general fungicide.

Care -

After phlox have established they should grow easily.  Feed monthly with 2.3.2.  Keep soil moist to slightly dry and keep well weeded.  Pinch back tall stems to keep neat appearance.  Add plenty of mulch to the bed.  Will not survive severe frost.
