Chives are the smallest member of the onion family.  They are used more for culinary purposes as they have very mild to insignificant medicinal benefits.

The flowers and Stalks are edible. Chives have a slight onion flavour and can be used in almost any dish.  They keep their colour well when cooked so are excellent for flavouring butter and breads etc.  Chopped finely they are great in salads, sandwiches, stirfry and eggs.

Feed monthly with a general fertilizer like 2.3.2 or Multikelp.  Cut with scissors about 3cm above ground.  After flowering cut back flower stalks to promote new growth.
