Budding strips are a horticultural tool used in plant propagation. They are narrow strips of flexible plastic. One side of the strip is coated with a grafting compound or wax that helps to seal the bud or scion to the rootstock. The other side of the strip is left exposed for ventilation. Budding strips are used to join a single bud or scion to the rootstock of a compatible plant, creating a new plant that will have the desirable characteristics of both the bud or scion and the rootstock.
